This Weekend I Made Time For Friends With My Kids In Tow And It was Quite Nice!
Our first date of the day was with Martina(@queensonpurpose). We started the afternoon with a 4 mile walk around Prospect Park. Within that marvelous 1 1/2 hours we talked about marriage, love, dating, religion, childhood memories, and so much more. Josiah slept and Martina offered to push him in the stroller and what a relief that was. As she pushed, Maliah and I were battling every 5 minutes because she didn't want to walk but then she wanted to walk and usually I would probably get frustrated but, Martina was so patient and understanding that I felt at peace with Maliah's shenanigans. After what felt like only 30 minutes we were back at her car exchanging hugs and sharing last minute positive reminders before going our separate ways.
Next Up, Long Island To Celebrate A Good Friends Birthday!
We took the Long Island railroad and that trip was no fun with a stroller. However, Josiah enjoyed gazing out the window at all the old train cars and empty tracks. Once we reached Long Island we went to the mall because mama needed an outfit. Now shopping with two kids is never an easy task. My friend told Josiah to get out the stroller but, she had no idea that he would take full advantage of that opportunity. I shopped happily laughing at her having to chase him around the store enjoying the fact that it wasn't me. The night ended at a nice restaurant called RHUM and I normally wouldn't have the kids out passed their bed time but, the trip was worth it to see a good friend smile.
Our children can come too!
Although it's nice to have a moment with friends without having to take care of the kids, its also nice to have dates with friends who are helpful and patient and don't mind being with you and your kids. I'm trying to make time to nurture friendships more often even if that means my children will be with me. Unfortunately, I didn't capture any moments during this day but, you get the picture :-)
Do you make time for friends even if the kids have to join?
